About Me

PASSIONATE. DYNAMIC. SARCASTIC. KIND.

Sydney is a creative based in NYC and Boston, even though she is 100% a Jersey Girl at heart- this means she's still a fast-paced, driven city girl, but most of her charm roots itself in her classic South Jersey/ Philly sarcasm and grit.

Having fallen in love with the theater in middle school, she has pursued a pretty fulfilling career thus far. â€‹

Her most recent roles reflect her ability to play both older and younger- within the same year, she played Elizabeth in  AMC's Invitation to a Bonfire (an innocent young highschooler) as well as Fraulein Schneider in EMStage's Cabaret  (a spunky old woman)

She is drawn to strong, complex characters. Olivia Benson, Meredith Grey, and recently, Sydney Adamu all feed her on-going curiosity in on-camera work.

Outside of the stage and studios, she can be found baking the best apple pie bars you've ever had. She's had a long career in restaurant work (currently serving/bartending), but has also spent a crazy amount of time perfecting pastries and learning about rum and sake. (It's been a wild couple of years)

More About Me
sydney15.jpg

My name is Sydney Morrison-Hoffman.

My long last name comes from the last names of both of my mothers, Linda Hoffman and Brenda Morrison - who have been together over 30 years now.

They knew I had a love for the arts at a very young age and enrolled me in dance and piano lessons - I had other plans. I quit both dance and piano to focus on athletics, specifically softball and basketball, which I pursued way longer than I should have.

Though I knew I was never going to be the next WNBA All-Star, I took athletics seriously.

Those years of hard work and training built the work-ethic and competitive drive that continue to serve me well in this industry.

I first attempted theater in middle school when I lost a bet and had to audition for the fall musical. I am now extremely thankful for that very rare loss.

Even then, I knew this was what I wanted to immerse myself in forever.

I began voice lessons with Robert Edwin in Cinnaminson, NJ and became addicted to sitting at my piano. â€‹I started taking acting classes, and auditioning for everything within reach.

In high school, I had the privilege of learning from bad-ass professionals who (thankfully) happened to take up teaching in the public schools of Burlington , NJ.

My teachers, Joseph Farina and Steven Bishop,  paved the way for everything I continue to practice today.

I attended Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, OH for one semester before I realized I was not cut out for the midwest - or more realistically, the midwest was not cut out for me.

I then transferred to Emerson College in Boston, MA, where I completed my studies in both Psychology and Theater & Performance.

While living in Boston, I found a passion for food and beverage.

Yes, I took on restaurant work as a means to support my creative work, but I also fell deeply in love with hospitality and food/beverage industry.

For example...

While filming the first season of Invitation to a Bonfire, I was also touring rum distilleries and learning from the owners of Worthy Park Estate. ( Dude, try their rum.) And while rehearsing for Cabaret, I was serving an omakase counter and taking my first steps into becoming a Sake Sommelier.

After living in Boston for many years, I made the move to NYC in March of 2024.

Here, I seek out work on the stage and screen every day

And to no one's surprise, I continue to talk people's ears off about rum and sake on a daily basis.
